For maximum performance and longer scissor life - two main rules apply when making a choice.
First - match the scissor to the types of materials you tie with most often. Most scissors can handle both natural and synthetic materials with ease but if you tie predominantly with synthetic materials consider the new generation of scissors like Tungsten Carbide or Razor that are designed to handle these materials.
Second - match the scissor to the size and type of flies you tie. If you tie small flies without much mass or material use small finer blade scissors like Arrow or MicroTip. Conversely if you flytying larger flies with more mass and material consider larger scissors with heavier blades like All Purpose Hair or Razor.
All Dr Slick Scissors FlyTying are made from 410 Japanese stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 45 except the Razor scissors which are made from 440 J2 stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 55.
Tungsten edged scissors will stay sharp a very long time
Please note that Tungsten Scissors have BLACK Handles.
The Tungsten series has T.C. blades welded onto the scissor blade frame. T.C. is 7x harder than stainless steel and holds an edge longer. These can handle all types of flytying materials, but were created to tackle modern synthetic materials.

These short, fine-bladed scissors are designed for small flies and detail work. The notch at the base of the blades is perfect for cutting wire and lead. Microtip Scissors Dr Slick
These flytying scissors are designed for small, delicate detail work. The hypodermic tips make short work of very small or lightly dressed flies. They are excellent on natural and fine synthetic materials. The gold or black (tungsten) loops and serrated blade make them easy to grip and use, and the straight blade is perfect for precise cutting.
Synthetic Scissors Dr Slick
These flytying scissors are designed for cutting heavy natural and synthetic materials. The heavy blades with large serrations are perfect for cutting tough stuff like glo bug yarn, foam, leather, plastic, bead chain, lead, wire, and mylar. The black loops and serrated blade make them easy to grip and use, and the 5-inch length is perfect for larger flies and tough materials.
